Status: read in Czech and partly in English
Publication Thinking Europe in the 20th century: Europe divided/integrated is in the first place focused on contrast between conflict and cooperation. Both reciprocal rivalry and cooperation are the two principal phenomena that have been forming the European history since the end of the 19th century till present days. With respect to the constantly ongoing events related to the end of 20th century, the text is delimited by the years 1914–1989, both of which can be considered milestones of the previous century.
Rating: The book is practically a collection of shorter academic articles and chapters dealing with various interesting themes of 20th-century Europe. The title Thinking Europe in the 20th century is thus more than fitting and well chosen, the reader has the opportunity to think about (not only) the little things that happened in the surrounding countries of Czechia, which also made the history of the last century. I look forward to the next parts of the series.
