The Institute of Chemical Processes participates in the Science Fair in Letňany every year. This year, the fair was held from Thursday 30. 5. to Saturday 1. 6. 2024 at the PVA EXPO exhibition grounds and I was able to be there for the first time too. The interest of visitors was huge. What could the little and the big ones discover and find out?

ICPF: "Visitors of our stand could have found out why bubbles are important in reactors, how they help to mix liquids, separate different substances or how they nourish microorganisms. They tried how to (un)mix different-sized particles and what causes water during an earthquake. Then, they learned that sugar is not just a white poison, but also a key component of many processes in the human body. Sugars bound to molecular carriers can even help to treat illnesses. There was also an electrolyser that utilizes atmospheric carbon dioxide and efficiently reduces it into products useful in the energy or chemical industries. A new nanostructured catalyst on a copper electrode offers extreme stability and a possibility to influence the composition of the products by choosing the electrolysis conditions. Finally, a flow-through redox battery was presented that uses compounds extracted from natural resources for energy storage."
